The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has decided to allow media personnel for the second Galle test, Cricket Age reliably learns. The decision was taken after some media personnel objected SLC’s reluctance to allow them in covering the ongoing test series, in the wake of the global pandemic.
The second test will take place from January 22-26.
The SLC had steadfastly denied permission for the media to cover the series in Galle citing Health Ministry regulations. However, after facing the criticism, the SLC hierarchy has decided to allow a limited number of media people in the ground for the second test.
“Our decision (to not allow) was based on Health Ministry regulations, as the country is witnessing increase in COVID cases in last few weeks. However, considering the objection raised, we have decided to allow 10-15 media peoples for the second test” a top SLC official told Cricket Age.
After second Galle test, England will depart for India, to play four-match series against Virat Kohli led side.
