The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has signed a MOU with Tamil Union to setup women’s cricket centre at Club’s home ground P. Saravanamuttu Stadium, Cricket Age reliably learns.
At present, Island’s female cricketers uses High Performance Centre (HPC) at Khetterama for gym and other facilities, the base of men’s cricketers as well.
The proposed Women’s cricket centre at P. Saravanamuttu Stadium will see a separate venue for female cricketers altogether.
“It was long due and finally we have signed the MOU with Tamil Union. It will be a big boost for our women cricketers, as they will be getting a separate venue” a top SLC official told Cricket Age.
As per the MOU, Women’s cricketers will be using P. Saravanamuttu Stadium’s fitness center, side wickets, swimming pool and dormitory facilities.
“We identified P. Saravanamuttu Stadium as most suitable place to establish the centre for our female cricketers. It will certainly be a great asset for women’s team” the top official added.
