Former India spinner Pragyan Ojha has said that England would want to play James Anderson and Stuart Broad in the third Test against India starting on Wednesday as the experience of the two will come in handy in using the new ball well.

Ojha emphasized that as a bowling unit both teams will want to use the new ball well and particularly in the twilight session of the day.

“The new ball becomes very important, as a bowling unit you need to use the new ball very well. I am sure [James] Anderson and [Stuart] Broad will be playing, they are well equipped and have got huge amount of experience behind them to use the new ball well,” Pragyan Ojha said on Sports Today.

Ojha also spoke about the line at which the bowlers would want to bowl in the key day-night clash at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad.

“If you are bowling first then you [need to] use the new ball well. Pink ball we know it swings more than the red ball and there is little bit of bounce that helps.

“You know there is another important session for the bowlers coming in at the twilight and then in the evening it will not help you much because there will be dew on the ground.

“In the afternoon session if you bowl disciplined line the advantage is, yes, it is a good time to bat, but the ball will be new. As a bowler you have to make the batsman play and keep the fourth or maybe fifth stump line where the batsman is looking to play the ball.
