Mumbai skipper Prithvi Shaw slammed 227 not out off 152 balls helping Mumbai to a mammoth 457/4 against Puducherry at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur in Elite Group D match of the 2021 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Shaw registered the highest individual score in the tournament, surpassing Sanju Samson’s 2021 in 2019 against Goa. This is Shaw’s maiden List A double ton, that came off just 142 balls. In the process, he helped Mumbai register the highest team total in the tournament’s history. Wicketkeeper-batsman Aditya Tare made 56 off 64 while Suryakumar Yadav blazed to 133 off just 58 balls, hitting 22 fours and four sixes.

Shaw’s innings comprised five sixes and 31 fours, while for Puducherry, Pankaj Singh (7-0-79-2), Santha Moorthy (9-0-92-0), and Sagar Trivedi (9-0-99-1) were taken apart. Last week, Jharkhand had posted 422/9 vs Madhya Pradesh, which was the highest team total of the tournament history, until today. The previous best team score was 412/6 registered by Madhya Pradesh against Railways way back in 2010. Ishan Kishan had scored 173 runs in just 94 balls with the help of 11 sixes in the Elite Group B match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy on Saturday.
