Professor Arjuna de Silva, the head of recently appointed Management Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), will be continuing as Anti Doping Agency Chairman as well, Cricket Age reliably learns.
On April 2, country’s Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa appointed a five member Cricket Management Committee until the elections of Sri Lanka Cricket is held on May 20. Other members of the committee are SLC CEO Ashley de Silva, Sujeewa Mudalige, Uchitha Wickramasinghe and Amal Edirisooriya.
After Professor Arjuna de Silva name was announced, there were immediate concern over the legitimacy issues. Legal experts pointed out that prof. de Silva need to resign from the Sri Lanka Anti-Doping Agency (SLADA), while another committee member Mudalige also need to resign from Price water house Coopers in order to hold the relevant posts.
However, it has learned that Professor Arjuna de Silva will continue to chair both the positions.
“His appointment is only for 6 weeks. Also, Anti Doping Agency is not a federation and he has been in the medical panel for many years now” a close associate of Professor Arjuna de Silva told Cricket Age.
A well respected health professional, Professor Arjuna de Silva is currently in charge of the COVID-19 prevention health protocols for SLC.
