Mumbai Indians wicket keeper Quinton de Kock showed full support for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 even as 5 players pulled out of the tournament mid-way into its 14th season due to the worsening COVID-19 crisis in the country.
Kane Richardson (Royal Challengers Bangalore), Adam Zampa (Royal Challengers Bangalore), Ravichandran Ashwin (Delhi Capitals), Liam Livingstone (Rajasthan Royals) and Liam Livingstone (Rajasthan Royals) have withdrawn from IPL 2021 amid the dangerous second wave of coronavirus in India.
2 umpires – India’s Nitin Menon and Australian Paul Reiffel – also pulled out of the cash-rich T20 league. Menon left because his wife and mother reportedly tested positive for Covid while Reiffel returned home a few days back due to anxiety about the Australian government not allowing flights from India.
But de Kock has no such plans of leaving the tournament just yet as he has complete faith in the bio-bubble and the doctors looking after the players.
“To be honest, we trust in our doctors, so we are pretty safe in our bubbles. At least we feel very safe and it is quite easy,” de Kock said after winning the match against Rajasthan Royals in New Delhi on Thursday.
“We still take precautions and I felt safe. I don’t know about other guys. I am speaking for myself. It is being easy to get on with the game and practice and everything.”
