The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Thursday officially postponed it’s much hyped domestic season – limited overs and major club league tournament – Indefinitely due to the grim Covid situation in the Island, Cricket Age reliably learns.

Cricket Age had published on August 17 itself that the top decision makers of Sri Lanka cricket have decided to postpone the season, owing to significant surge in Covid cases in the Island.

Today, board’s tournament committee sent a letter to all stakeholders, informing them about the decision.

“In the letter, sent by tournament committee chairman Mr. Samantha Dodanwela, it has been mentioned that the next dates of the commencement of the season will be notified to the clubs in three weeks advance to give them enough time for the preparation” a top decision maker told Cricket Age.

The newly proposed season was scheduled to start on September 5.

“The committee has also decided to postpone the players registration and the membership will be kept informed of the new date, once the new tournament dates are confirmed” the letter reads.
