In a big relief, all 164 players and staff members of the Sri Lanka Cricket’s (SLC) ongoing T20 Invitational league have been tested negative during routine PCR test, Cricket Age reliably learns. The PCR tests were taken Yesterday during the ongoing T20 league, which will be played till August 24.
On a precautionary measure, SLC, Yesterday, rescheduled two games of the league. The matches were scheduled to be played today (20), but now have been shifted tomorrow (21).
The rescheduling was done following the identification of some of the employees of the Hotel, where the players and the support staff taking part in the league were accommodated, as Covid Positive.
The employees of the hotel, who were identified as Covid Positive during a routine PCR Test carried out on the 17th of August, were not in direct contact with the players and the support staff.
Following the identification, the players and the support staff were shifted to two different hotel.
“Although, few back office staff members were tested positive after 17th PCR’ tests, all players and staff moved immediately to alternate hotels same night. Today they all tested negative” a top SLC official told Cricket Age.
