Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah on Monday added yet another feather to his Test cap as he completed 100 wickets in the format in the ongoing match against England at The Oval.
Bumrah picked up the wicket of Ollie Pope in the second session on Day 5 to become the 23rd Indian bowler to reach the 100 Test wickets landmark. He is also the joint-8th fastest Indian to achieve the feat of a century of wickets along with Ravindra Jadeja, both of whom did it in their 24th Test match.
Bumrah is ranked 23rd on the Indian list of bowlers with most wickets in Test cricket but has the best average (22.45) and strike rate (50.2) than the rest. He is currently level with former pacer Irfan Pathan, who bagged 100 wickets in 29 Tests.
India struck twice in the first session on the final day with Shardul Thakur removing Rory Burns for 50 before Dawid Malan ran himself out on 5.
England’s highest successful run chase was when they achieved a 359-run target in the 2019 Headingley Test against Australia. India on the other hand, have never lost a Test match while defending a total over 350, they have won all 34 games so far.
