MS Dhoni turned back the clock to take Chennai Super Kings through to the final with a win over Delhi Capitals on Sunday. A six-ball 18 cameo was ensured CSK went over the line in a tight game. RCB captain Virat Kohli, who has played a lot under Dhoni’s leadership, hailed the CSK skipper as the ‘greatest finisher’.
Dhoni was struggling for runs throughout the tournament and even though he got to bat in the last two games he didn’t look like Dhoni everyone knows of but he brought his best when his team needed it.
Kohli took to Twitter to praise Dhoni. His post read: “Anddddd the king is back the greatest finisher ever in the game. Made me jump Outta my seat once again tonight.”
Former India batter Virender Sehwag wrote, “Om Finishaya Namaha !Great win from Chennai. Ruturaj Top class, Uthappa classy and Dhoni showing how important temparement is. Great win for @ChennaiIPL and what a fightback to reach the finals after the show last season.”
Gaikwad was dismissed by Avesh Khan in the 19th over only for Dhoni to rewind the time back. Skipper MS Dhoni stood for CSK when they needed him the most. It was a game that ebbed and flowed throughout the 40 overs but it was the finisher, the man, who kept his calm and cool to win it for his team, as he has done for a number of years.
Avesh bowled a short ball and Dhoni pulled it towards the leg side for a six and in the final over he hit three fours in a row off Curran to finish the game in style taking his side into their 9th final and it will be his 10th final personally spoiling DC’s party, who will have to now go to Sharjah to play the second Qualifier against the winner of the Eliminator.
