At any given point of time the International Cricket Council is dealing with scores of issues from across the globe. While each member nation may have a specific concern or grievance, it is left to the ICC to find and maintain a delicate balance. A lot of this responsibility falls on Geoff Allardice, the interim chief executive of the ICC. Allardice, a former First-Class cricketer might have only played for Victoria 14 times, as a batter, but he comes from the Melbourne University club, whose products include high profile administrators including Malcolm Gray and James Sutherland.
Allardice sat down with select media in Dubai for an interaction on the issues around the game. When he was asked: Would the ICC get involved over India playing Pakistan in bilateral cricket?
He replied:
“Not in bilateral cricket. We obviously enjoy when they play each other in our events. But the relationship between the two countries and the boards is something the ICC isn’t able to influence.
Like any bilateral cricket, if the two boards agree they play, if they don’t, then they don’t. I suppose we’re not seeing much of a change on the horizon.”
