Amidst the rising cases of coronavirus in India, BCCI could hold the entire IPL 2022 in Mumbai across three stadiums – Wankhede, Brabourne and DY Patil Stadium, Cricket Age exclusively learns.
There are talks of starting the league in late March to reduce the number of double-headers.
“We still have time to decide about this. But Yes, if the situation won’t be improving, then Mumbai is the best option” a top BCCI official told Cricket Age.
If Mumbai also remains badly hit, which is most likely, then the BCCI have another backup plan ready. The entire IPL 2020 and the second leg of IPL 2021 were held in UAE due to the covid crisis in India. And there’s a possibility that the BCCI may turn to the middle-eastern country again depending on the covid situation in India and Mumbai.
Just today, India recorded 1,17,100 new Covid cases, biggest single day spike in the last 7 months.
