India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has been kept under the observation of the BCCI medical team after being discharged from the hospital in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. However, Ishan is unlikely to play in the 3rd T20I against Sri Lanka in Dharamshala on Sunday.
The IPL 2022 mega auction’s most expensive player, Ishan Kishan, sustained a head injury during the second T20I against Sri Lanka and was rushed to a hospital in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. The incident occurred in the fourth over of India’s innings when Kishan was hit by Lahiru Kumara’s sharp bouncer.
The impact of the delivery had Kishan taking off his helmet even as the Sri Lankan fielders gathered around him. Ishan was admitted to the normal ward as a precautionary measure and a CT scan was done immediately when he was admitted.
India may turn to Sanju Samson to keep the wicket and Mayank Agarwal to open the batting in Ishan Kishan’s absence. Agarwal joined the Indian team after Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of the series with a wrist injury. Agarwal had been quarantined in Chandigarh along with the rest of India’s Test squad to face Sri Lanka from March 4.
After defending a total and chasing down a big one in the first two T20Is, India will be eyeing another positive result in the 3rd T20I at Dharamsala against Sri Lanka. India are currently on an 11-game winning streak in T20Is, their longest such run in this format. A victory in the final T20I will take them to 12 in a row, equalling the record for the longest winning streak in T20Is, currently jointly held by Afghanistan and Romania.
