Australia will miss the services of his stat all-rounder Mitchell Marsh in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Pakistan that starts on Tuesday in Lahore. The 30-year-old suffered an injury during the team’s practice session ahead of the first match at Gaddafi Stadium.
The cricketer injured his hip-flexor during the fielding drill. Marsh’s absence will be a big blow to Australia as they are already without the services of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins and Kane Richardson for the white-ball series, which also features one T20 International.
“He’s injured his hip-flexor, we think, at training. We are going to have to wait and see what that looks like, but I don’t think he’ll be available for the series based on how he was feeling yesterday. He sustained that (injury) in a fielding drill. It was a high-intensity, lateral movement drill, and he bent down to pick it up one-handed and went to throw and felt a twinge, “Australian white-ball captain Aaron Finch was quoted as saying on Monday.
Australia is on its first tour to Pakistan since 1998 and has already won the three-match Test series by a margin of 1-0. After the first two Tests ended in a draw, Pat Cummins and Co. ran riot in the third game played in Lahore to beat Babar Azam’s men by 115 runs to build on the team’s success under Cummins’ leadership.
