Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra said on Saturday that Kolkata Knight Riders captain Shreyas Iyer has begun to struggle against leg-spinners, and that he needs to get his act together.
Kolkata Knight Riders beat Punjab Kings at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday, winning two of their games, sitting at the top of the table in the Indian Premier League.
“Shreyas Iyer seems to have an issue with leg-spinners. It looks at the ball and seems he wants to hit a six. Last match he got out to (Wanindu) Hasaranga. He’s too good a player to play shot like these get out. Yes, Shreyas, you got to get your act together,” Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
This might be becoming a pattern, as in their game against Royal Challengers Bangalore, KKR captain Shreyas Iyer was caught by RCB captain Faf du Plessis when he tried to go hard against leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga, after a decent start, scoring 13 off 10 balls that included two boundaries.
Shreyas Iyer was unbeaten in their opener against Chennai Super Kings, getting 20 runs off 19 in their successful chase of 132. KKR won by 6 wickets and 9 balls to spare.
