Roshan Mahanama, Sri Lanka’s World Cup winning Icon, has once again urged his fellow citizens to come forward and join the ongoing protests against the government’s inability in handling the fast deepening financial crisis.
In the wake of Inflation and shortage of essentials, the country is witnessing a spate of protests over the worst economic crisis, with thousands gathering on streets, demanding government’ resignation. On Tuesday, the ruling coalition appeared to have lost its majority in the 225 member Parliament with over 40 MPs declaring themselves independent.
“As a true patriot of this country, I urge everyone to keep the pressure & show your disappointment in a very peaceful manner without harming yourselves and damaging any property of the country” he wrote on Twitter on Thursday.
“Since I have no respect for most of the leaders of our country, I’m of the opinion that we have to come together to hold our leaders accountable for their actions. I request every citizen irrespective of race, religion or political background to come forward to join the protests” he added.
