In a surprise decision on Saturday (April 30), Chennai Super Kings star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who was announced as the new captain of the four-champions ahead of the start of the 2022 season of the Indian Premier League, has decided to relinquish the captaincy to focus and concentrate more on his game and has requested former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni to lead CSK.
And in the larger interest of the side and to allow the left-handed batter to focus on his game, the 40-year-old Dhoni has agreed to lead the side once again in the remaining matches of the tournament.
Under Jadeja’s leadership, CSK played eight matches but was only able to win two of those. They suffered four back-to-back defeats from the start and are currently languishing in the penultimate spot in the league table.
With four points after eight matches, the defending champions are on the cusp of making a shock exit from the playoff race. They have to win all the remaining six league matches if they have to keep their hopes of reaching the last four alive.
