Former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, effusive in his praise for the three-time losing finalists Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), believes the Faf du Plessis-led side can go all the way and end the decade-long wait for the first Indian Premier League (IPL) title this year.
The Virat Kohli-starrer side has featured in all the 15 editions of the league so far but is yet to bag the coveted trophy. They came close in 2009, 2011 and 2016 but failed to cross the last hurdle. But this time, according to four-time winner Harbhajan, they (RCB) have a very good chance to end the drought.
“This RCB team has very good players. When you see their batting line-up or bowling line-up, there are players who can win the trophy for them. I have a gut feeling that RCB will go all the way this season. And if they do, they’ll probably lift the cup,” he said.
Harbhajan stated that RCB will be a dangerous opponent because they are coming from behind and urged them to continue playing in the same vein that they have been doing up till now.
“RCB need to continue having the faith and belief that they can do it. They have got the team. They just have to come and play like one unit. It will come down to the individuals – how badly they need it (victory). They need to approach it (Qualifier 2) as another game. Remember, they have come from behind and it is difficult to stop a team that has come from behind.”
