Another round of “Galle Cricket Club’s Infamous liquor case Inquiry” will be held at Sri Lanka Sports Ministry today, Cricket Age reliably learns.
In May 2020, Cricket Age had published that some of the top Galle CC officials were accused of outsourcing and selling their club’s liquor to the outsiders at much higher prices during the Covid lockdown period In that year.
By highlighting this matter, a complaint was lodged at Sports Ministry by suspended Galle Cricket Ground Curator Jayananda Warnaweera. That time, it was also accused that Club Treasurer Thushara De Silva and Bar Secratary Titus were fully aware of this Incident. Since then, In typical Sri Lanka style, the Inquiry has been dragging on, despite an all powerfull Namal Rajapaksa was at helm as Sports Minister for nearly two years!
Titus works for IDL Lanaka, leading arack distributors in Sri Lanka, while Thushara De Silva works at Dialog Sri Lanka.
“Both Mr. Thushara De Silva and Mr. Titus have been called for the Inquiry by our Investigation Unit today” a Sports Ministry Insider told Cricket Age.
It has learnt that Galle CC top brass conducted an internal Inquiry and suspended some employees also. Internal Inquiry report and other documents have already been submitted by Club’s officials.
