With Wriddhiman Saha not being named in the Test squad for the final Test against England, the team management may have made its intentions clear regarding the veteran gloveman’s future. The 37-year-old is now turning his attention towards domestic cricket and the Indian Premier League after the snub.
“Since it has been officially made clear by the Indian team management that I won’t get picked, my main focus will be on domestic cricket – if and when I play – and then of course IPL” he said.
Saha recently parted ways with his domestic side Bengal and is still to take a decision on which state he wants to play in the next phase of his career. Saha’s wife Romi had criticised the Cricket Association of Bengal for doubting Saha’s commitment and said that the wicket-keeper batter was hurt by the same and hence left his state side.
For Saha, it’s not been all gloomy as after being bought by a new franchise, the keeper-batter became an IPL champion with the Gujarat Titans. After not playing the first few games, Saha was slotted into the line-up as an opener and he didn’t disappoint showing his attacking prowess with the bat.
