Captain Rohit Sharma, star batter Virat Kohli, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, No.3 specialist Cheteshwar Pujara, and opener Shubman Gill returned to the national team as the Test squad boarded a flight to London from Mumbai to kick off India’s tour to England.
Off-spinner R Ashwin, allrounder Ravindra Jadeja, pacers Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur and Prasidh Krishna, Hanuma Vihari, and wicketkeeper KS Bharat were among other Indian players who boarded that plane to London.
During India’s UK tour, two Indian teams will be in action simultaneously once again. The members of the T20I squad will face Ireland in two T20Is on June 26 and 28. At the time when the T20I side will take on Ireland in Dublin, the members of the Test team would be in action against Leicestershire in a four-day practice match at Grace Road in Leicester.
India, earlier in 2021, had left without playing the final Test match of the series due to a Covid-19 outbreak, but had promised to complete the series in 2022. The Rohit Sharma-led team are scheduled to play their first tour game on June 24, before taking on England in the rescheduled Test match on July 1-5.
