The key moment during England’s batting was the verbals between Virat Kohli and Jonny Bairstow. Bairstow was on 13 off 60, the verbal interaction with Kohli happened. He shifted gears and galloped to his third consecutive Test hundred in 119 balls. There were a couple of iffy shots that could have got him out, immediately after the episode, but Bairstow soon started to find the middle of the bat and turned on the heat.
At end of the day’s play, though. Bairstow would say that there was nothing to the interaction and that all was well.
“Two very competitive people out on the field doing what they love, 11 guys that are very passionate about their country. It was great craic out there. I hope that clears it up,” Bairstow said.
The umpires got into the act. Both players nodded and got back to cricket. Bairstow began to attempt to attack. Couple of iffy drives followed, bat missing the ball by a big margin. Two hacks, basically.
Bairstow initially had put Bazball on the backburner and was on 12 off 47 balls. Then, on 13 off 60, the verbal interaction with Kohli happened. He shifted gears and galloped to his third consecutive Test hundred in 119 balls.
