The liquor matter, one of the most controversial episode in Galle Cricket Club (GCC) history, has now reached at Country’s Excise Department following a complaint lodged by one of the club member itself, Cricket Age reliably learns.
Over the past two years, Cricket Age has had Exclusively published the stories related to the controversy. It all started when the club bar officials were accused of selling liquor bottles on higher prices during the nationwide lockdown period in 2020 and under President Kumar Samarasinghe’s regime!
“One of the club member has lodged the complaint and the Excise Department has already summoned bar and security officials for the inquiry” a source close to the development told Cricket Age.
The accusation is that 250 Extra Special Liquor bottles, priced 1400 were sold at a price of 5000. Also, the amount of only the fixed price (1400) was deposited at Club through a single bill.
Samarasinghe administration, on the other hand, has always refuted the allegations!
