India captain Rohit Sharma has offered an injury update after the third T20I, saying that his body is ok after being forced to retire hurt during the match. He also hailed the Indian batters for their clinical performance during the run chase against West Indies in the third T20I on Tuesday.
Chasing a target of 165, India won the match by seven wickets and had an over to spare.
Earlier in the day, the hosts notched up 164 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs with Kyle Mayers top scoring with 73 runs. Brandon King, Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell also contributed with some valuable cameos as well.
In response, India got off to a great start but suffered a big blow as Sharma had to retire hurt due to back spasm while batting at 11. However, Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer combined well to setup a big partnership with Yadav being the main man.
Speaking at the post-match presentation, Sharma offered an injury update by saying that his body is ok at the moment and hopefully he will be fit for the next game.
“My body is ok, we have a few days in between so hopefully it should be ok,” said Sharma.
The India captain was asked about the aspects which he liked about his team and said that he was happy with how the bowlers did well during the middle overs.
“How we bowled in the middle overs. That was crucial. They were about to get a quick partnership. We used the condition and our variations really well,” said Sharma.
