Written by N Krishnamurthy

Arjuna Ranatunga, Sri Lanka’s most Iconic cricketer, has agreed to take over as National Sports Council Chairman, Cricket Age exclusively learns. Ranatunga, 1996 World Cup winning legend, today morning met Country’s Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe and discussed in length about his vision and stratgey to move forward Sport in the Island.

“He is the Icon of Sri Lanka Sport and there is no better person than him to chair the National Sports Council. Honorable Minister listened to him and assured all the support in his task to bring Sport to greater heights” a top Sports Ministry Official told Cricket Age.

Accordingly, Ranatunga will be officially taking over as Chairman at 11.30 AM today.

Ranatunga will be replacing another former Sri Lanka Captain Mahela Jayawardene as National Sports Council Chairman chairman, who, along with Kumar Sangakkara, ruined Sport in the country, with favoritism, especially in Cricket, as he parachuted all useless coaches of Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) to national cricket team setup.
