Australia star opener David Warner has been rested for the three-match T20I series against India, beginning September 20.
Australia will travel to India before returning home to play the West Indies, England and India leading into the T20 World Cup. David Warner, who has been named in the Australia squad for the ICC event later this year, will miss the India tour “as part of a managed period of preparation for a full summer schedule”. Warner has been replaced by Cameron Green for the tour of India.
Mohali will host the first T20I on September 20, followed by second (September 23) and third (September 25) matches at Nagpur and Hyderabad respectively.
National Selection Panel chair of selectors, George Bailey, said: “Cameron’s improvements in all facets of his game has been impressive and we are excited for him to continue the growth of his all-round T20 cricket through further exposure to the format.”

Warner recently scored 57 and 13 in his two outings against Zimbabwe in ODIs. Earlier this month, Warner signed a two-year deal with Sydney Thunder, ending his nine-year absence from the Big Bash League (BBL).
Warner will join the Thunder after his commitments with Australia end with the completion of the Sydney Test against South Africa in January. He is likely to be available for as many as five matches, including the Sydney Smash against the Sixers and the finals.
