Virat Kohli, on Saturday, became the second-highest century maker in international cricket. The right-handed batter achieved the milestone in India’s third and final ODI against Bangladesh at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
In 482 matches, Kohli has scored 24553 runs at an average of 53.84 with 72 hundreds to his name. Ponting, on the other hand, notched 27483 runs from 560 matches at an average of 45.95 with 71 hundreds to show for his efforts.
Kohli is now only behind the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, who keeps sitting on the top with 100 international centuries to his name. Sachin has 34357 international runs with 100 hundreds and 164 fifties to his name.
It also happened to be his 44th ODI hundred and his first in more than three years. Kohli ended up scoring 113 runs off 91 balls with the help of 11 fours and two sixes. Taskin Ahmed, who replaced Nasum Ahmed, got rid of the big fish in the 42nd over of the Indian innings.
