Asked to open the innings in the absence of Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan made the most out of the opportunity and etched his name in his history books by smashing a double-century against Bangladesh in the 3rd ODI in Chattogram. The left-handed batsman became the youngest batsman to breach the 200-run mark and played a match-winning knock of 210 off 131 balls.
Batting with a strike-rate of 160.31, Ishan hit 24 boundaries and 10 sixes in his knock. After the game, the youngster took to Twitter to share a heartfelt tweet and said that he will never forget the historic day.
“I cannot put into words what I’m feeling right now but I’ll try. I’m overwhelmed by the love, the messages, the wishes. This is an innings that will stay in my heart forever, a day that I won’t forget, and these moments that I’ll always carry with me. Thank you for everything,” Ishan has written on Twitter.
Ishan played a key role in India breaching the 300-run mark and added 290 runs for the 2nd wicket with Virat Kohli. The former India captain also shone with the bat and hit his first ODI century in 3 years. Kohli was dismissed for 113 off 91 balls.
