Babar Azam could lose his job as Pakistan’s Test captain by July next year and is likely to continue as white-ball skipper while head coach Saqlain Mushtaq is likely to step down from his role after the end of the New Zealand Test series in January, news agency PTI has said.
The report said that Babar Azam and Saqlain Mushtaq flew to Lahore from Karachi to have a high-level meeting with former Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ramiz Raja after Pakistan were clean swept 3-0 in a Test series at home.
it was the first time Pakistan had lost all Test matches in a series at home while Babar became the first captain from the country to lose 4 successive home Tests in a calendar year.
“A high-level meeting was held in the office of the PCB chairman Ramiz Raja at the Gaddafi Stadium in which chief selector, Mohammad Wasim also participated,” PTI quoted the PCB source as saying.
Ramiz Raja, who was on Wednesday sacked as PCB chairman and replaced by veteran administrator Najam Sethi, was heard explanations as to why Pakistan lost the Test series 3-0.
