Australia captain Pat Cummins is hopeful that the all-conquering Test side has the ‘best chance’ to clinch a rare Test series victory in India when they tour the Asian nation for the much-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy in February-March. Australia will play 4 Tests in India in what will be their first Test series in the country since 2017.
Australia are yet to beat India in a Test series since the 2014-15 season, losing two successive series at home (2018-19 and 2020-21). The challenge is only going to get tougher in India but Cummins believes Australia have the tools to crack the success code.
“I think we’ve given ourselves the best chance, it was another fantastic summer,” Cummins said after the SCG match vs South Africa.
“I feel like we’re adapting really well. Having the experience in Sri Lanka and Pakistan last year has put us in really good stead for India, no one’s going over there blind. We’ll use the next few weeks to perhaps reflect on the last 12 months, and then get over there really refreshed and eager.
“I think we’re as good a chance as we’re ever going to be.” he added.
