Former cricketer Mohammed Kaif has claimed that Mohammed Siraj has been the biggest positive for India in their series against Sri Lanka, which concluded on Sunday.
India completed a clean sweep of the Asia Cup Champions in Thiruvananthapuram, as they posted a big total of 390 in their allotted 50 overs on the back of Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 166 and Shubman Gill’s 116.
This was then followed up by a tremendous bowling effort from the hosts with Siraj at the forefront. The 28-year-old ran through the Sri Lankan batting order with ease and ended up picking four wickets in his 10 overs while giving away just 32 runs. Sri Lanka were eventually bundled out for 73, allowing India to win by 317 runs, which is the highest margin of victory in ODI history.
“The biggest positive has been Mohammed Siraj. Wanting to win the World Cup in India in flat conditions, I think Mohammed Siraj has done so well.”
“If you see the last couple of matches, he’s been bowling really well, getting the breakthrough with the new ball. He has got wickets even when he comes in to bowl towards the end,” said Kaif.
