West Indies announced Shai Hope as their new ODI captain and Rovman Powell as their new T20I captain while Kraigg Brathwaite was reained as the captain of their Test team. Hope and Powell will take charge of the limited-overs teams in ther tour of South Africa in March.

The announcement from Cricket West Indies comes after Nicholas Pooran stepped down from captaincy roles. Pooran, who led both the ODI and T20I team, had given up the position after  West Indies’ first-round exit from the T20 World Cup in Australia.

“It is a tremendous honour and privilege to be appointed captain of any West Indies team,” Hope said, as quoted by Cricket West Indies.

“To lead a team that is of such incredible significance not only to myself and my teammates but to our legion of fans the world over, is something one dreams of as a child.”

On the other hand, West Indies are assured of their place at next year’s T20 World Cup as they co-host the tournament with the United States.
