Cricket Age Exclusively learns that Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) new recruitee Susanthika Jayasinghe is following Apsari Tillakratne’s ‘report to work’ pattern as she has hardly VISITED Maitland Place or High Performance Centre (HPC) merely once or twice after being appointed as mentor for Women’s Cricket.
Susanthika, Sri Lanka’s Olympic Medalist, was appointed for the coveted post by SLC on February 1st.
“She will mentor the present and future generations of women cricketers” the SLC had said on her appointment.
However, since her appointment, Susanthika has reported to work just as formality!
“It looks like another high profile appointment, just for the formality” a HPC source told Cricket Age.
In this regard, Susanthika is following Apsari Tillakratne, the so called Convenor of women’s cricket at SLC! Apsari, wife of Sri Lanka’s former test cricketer Hashan Tillakratne, has over the years mastered in the art of reporting to work as per her wish! Moreover, she mysteriously remains in good book of everyone at SLC – from Sumathipalas to Silvas, Ranatungas to Wickramaratnes, Dharmadasas, Mathivanans, De Silvas and so on!
“Susanthika will be concentrating on fitness n mental preparation while Apsari will visit non playing schools to promote cricket” a top SLC official, who is Apsari supporter, told Cricket Age.
However, even if by that SLC official’s logic that Apsari is promoting cricket in non playing schools (and actually she is promoting, but only on social media), Sri Lanka Cricket is yet to get benefitted by her so called efforts! Now, Susanthika, another high profile appointment, is also following her!
