Jofra Archer eager to play full IPL season for Mumbai Indians

English pace-bowler Jofra Archer said he would “like to” play the full season of the upcoming Indian Premiere League(IPL) without restrictions for the Mumbai Indians.

However, Archer also acknowledged he understands if he does not get to play back-to-back games. “If I’m told I’m not playing I don’t question it. Usually back-to-back games I don’t even bother to ask because I already know what the answer is,” Archer said.

Archer has missed the entirety of last season for the Mumbai Indians and has been out of any form of cricket for the last 18 months. The 27-year-old made his comeback in the SA20 league earlier this year. Indian star bowler Jasprit Bumrah and young Australian quicky Jhye Richardson have been already ruled out of the upcoming season due to an injury.

The Englishmen said he received a mail from the Mumbai franchise and it has been passed on to the England medical staff. His workload will be monitored carefully as after a long testing IPL season Archer’s body will be put to test again with the five-match Ashes Test series against Australia.

Speaking about it he said, “If I can play one game this summer, I’ll be happy. If I play more than one, that’s just a bonus.”

“I haven’t lost an Ashes series as yet, so hopefully, we can keep it that way,” he added.
