Virat Kohli’s exploits with the bat in the Ahmedabad Test of the recently-concluded Border-Gavaskar trophy was rewarded as the Indian batter climbed up seven spots in the latest ICC Test batter’s rankings to be in 13th spot.
Ravichandran Ashwin has regained sole ownership of the No.1 spot for Test bowlers as James Anderson slipped from the top spot.
Kohli ended a three-year wait for a Test hundred during the Ahmedabad Test as he played a patient and blissful knock of 186. The knock helped India stay in the contest during the fourth Test, which ended in a draw and helped India qualify for the World Test Championship final.
Because of his exploits in the Ahmedabad Test, Kohli has now climbed up seven places in the rankings for Test batters and has reached 13th spot. The star batter is now on the heels of Rishabh Pant (ninth) and Rohit Sharma (10th), who are the only Indian batters ahead of him.
Ashwin was in a tussle with Anderson and Pat Cummins for the No.1 ranking for bowlers right from the Nagpur Test of the Border-Gavaskar trophy and for a brief time, was sharing the spot with the English pacer.
