Chennai Super Kings batter Ajinkya Rahane said that he was focused on playing his normal game and backing his strengths against Mumbai Indians. Rahane scored a 27-ball 61 to guide CSK to a seven-wicket win over MI at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Speaking after the match, Rahane said he was told he would play at the toss and was prepared for the opportunity. Rahane scored 61 runs off 27 balls, hitting seven boundaries and three sixes.

“I was told at the toss that I was playing. Unfortunately, Moeen Ali was unwell. Luckily, I had prepared myself well mentally and physically. I always visualize before the game and that helps a lot. Playing in Mumbai after a long time, I know this wicket really well. While bowling, we got the idea of how the wicket was playing, and that helped me a lot while batting,” said Rahane.

“When you are chasing 150-160, it’s important to bat with intent in the first six overs. If you get a good start, it becomes really easy. It was all about playing my normal game and backing my strengths. My preparation was good. I had a very good domestic season this year. So batting-wise I was feeling good, it was all about grabbing this opportunity,” Rahane added.
