Inzamam-ul-Haq appointed chief selector for Pakistan men’s national team ahead of ODI World Cup

Former Test captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has been appointed as the chief selector of the Pakistan men’s cricket team ahead of the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup.

His first task will be to name a squad for Pakistan’s three-match One-Day International (ODI) series against Afghanistan in Sri Lanka, which begins on August. It will be followed by the Asia Cup ODIs. Inzamam, who named the squad for the World Cup, will also be in charge of naming the squad for the World Cup. The tournament runs from October to November in India.

Following the appointment of Zaka Ashraf as chairperson of the Pakistan Cricket Board, but the former captain is attempting to create a new set-up for the national team, and thus the decision has been made to bring Inzamam back into the fold. Meanwhile, team director Mickey Arthur and head coach Grant Bradburn are also on the selection committee, but they will be informed about their status soon.
