Virat Kohli has said he is forever grateful for his career as he celebrates the 15th anniversary of his international cricket debut on Friday, August 18.

Kohli is celebrating his 15th anniversary of his international debut on August 18, 2023.

Kohli first came into the limelight when he led the Indian U-19 cricket team to victory in the 2008 U-19 Cricket World Cup. It wasn’t too long before Kohli made his international debut for the Indian cricket team as he stepped on to the field in Dambulla for the first time in the national team colours.

The Indian star came in as an opener in the match but was dismissed for 12 runs in his first game. However, he came into his own over the years and became one of the greatest players in the history of the game.

Kohli would end up hitting centuries in all three formats of the game and has 76 hundreds to his name, the most by an active player at the moment. In the 275 ODIs he has played, Kohli has scored 12898 runs and has 46 hundreds, three away from tying Sachin Tendulkar’s record.

Kohli also enjoyed a great time leading the side as the skipper, having recorded memorable Test wins in Australia and England. With 40 Test wins, Kohli leads the way as the most successful Indian Test team skipper.

After facing a slump in form, Kohli came back to his own during 2023 and was also able to score his 29th Test hundred during the tour of West Indies. In all the formats this year, the star batter has amassed a total of 984 runs from 19 matches.

In a post on Instagram, Kohli said he was forever grateful for his career.

“Forever grateful,” said Kohli on Instagram.
