Virat Kohli seems to have been or is expecting to be inundated with requests for the ICC Cricket World Cup tickets by his friends.
Why else would he ‘humbly’ ask his friends via social media to not approach him for the tickets and instead enjoy the tournament from the comfort of their homes?
“As we approach the World Cup, I would humbly like to let all my friends know to not request me for tickets at all through the tournament. Enjoy from your homes pls,” Kohli posted on his Instagram stories on Wednesday morning.
Several cricketers in the past have admitted to have received requests from friends and extended family members for tickets ahead of or during major tournaments.
Meanwhile, Kohli joined his India teammates in Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) a day later on Tuesday after earlier flying to Mumbai due to personal reasons. He reportedly wouldn’t have been part of India’s warm-up match against the Netherlands had it not been washed out due to rain.
Indian team will open their world cup campaign against five-time champions Australia in Chennai on Sunday (October 8).
The Rohit Sharma-led side was slated to play two warm-up matches – against England and Netherlands – in the lead up to the tournament but both were abandoned due to rain.
