The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 schedule for the first 17 days has been announced with this year’s competition set to start on March 22. The organisers of the IPL made the fixtures official on Thursday, February 22.
Reigning champions CSK will take on RCB in the opening match in Chennai. This will be the 9th time CSK will play the first match of an IPL edition.
All the day matches will start at 3:30 PM while the evening fixture will start at 7:30 PM during the double-header days.
21 matches will be played during the said duration. The second day of the IPL will be a double-header with Punjab Kings hosting Delkhi Capitals and KKR welcoming SRH to the Eden Gardens.
The second double-header will see Hardik Pandya returning to Ahmedabad as the skipper of MI in the evening game, while RR and LSG will clash in the 3:30 PM fixture.
DC will not be playing their home matches in Delhi for the first two weeks. The first two home matches for the Capitals will be staged in Vizag.
The Lok Sabha elections in India are expected to be held in April and May. This is the main reason why the schedule for the IPL’s 17th edition had not been unveiled yet.
