“Prithvi Shaw Not Living Up To Expectations, Has To Change”: Brad Hogg

Written by Praveen CA

Indian cricket these days is all about young guns. From Yashasvi Jaiswal to Dhruv Jurel to Sarfaraz Khan, it seems the world is for the Indian youngsters to take. It was visible in the India vs England Test series where the aforementioned players performed to take the Indian cricket team to a 4-1 win over England. Away from the limelight, however, one promising Indian cricketer is facing challenges. He is Prithvi Shaw. Once considered a bright talent, Shaw is no longer considered for national team.

He had a long injury setback too. He made a comeback in Ranji Trophy but barring an 159 against Chhattisgarh, he could not reach the triple figure in the five other matches that he played in the tournament. He will next be seen in Delhi Capitals colours in the Indian Premier League 2024.

Former Australian cricket team spinner Brad Hogg feels Shaw is far from being in form.

“Ponting will firstly address Prithvi Shaw’s form. He is not living up to his expectations at the moment. He has got to change the way he goes about his business, he has got to gain confidence,” Hogg, who has played for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, said on his YouTube channel.

Hogg added that if Shaw can up his game, it will benefit Delhi Capitals. “Ponting will be really working on that (Shaw’s form) with his strategy for the first six overs. If he can turn things around and compliment Warner, then the middle order is going to expose opposition teams,” Hogg, who is a two-time World Cup winner with Australia, added.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant was on Tuesday appointed as the captain of Delhi Capitals for the upcoming edition of the IPL, marking a wonderful chapter in his miraculous comeback saga.
