‘Mind is Going to Explode’: Faf du Plessis Has Nowhere to Hide After RCB’s 6th Defeat

Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Faf du Plessis is facing the heat as his remark ‘mind is going to explode’ indicated the pressure he’s been under following his team’s fifth straight loss of IPL 2024.

RCB have played six matches so far this IPL but have managed to win only of them – against Punjab Kings on March 25. Since then, they have put across a series of disappointing shows including on Monday when Sunrisers Hyderabad broke the record for the highest ever team score in the league’s history.

Du Plessis admitted it was a tough night to be a bowler and none of their plans came to fruition. Four out of six bowlers RCB used against SRH ended up conceding at least 51 runs each.

The only two bowlers who didn’t leak in excess of 50 runs were, unsurprisingly, the ones who didn’t bowl their full quota of four overs.

“It’s crazy the amount of runs scored today, a world record. I wouldn’t say 270 is par. It’s tough (to bowl on a day like this). We tried a few things behind the closed doors and they weren’t really working,” Du Plessis said after the match.

Du Plessis admitted RCB are low on confidence.

“Cricket is tough when your confidence is low, there’s no way to hide. The fast bowlers found it quite difficult out there. Similar to the batting perspective, we need to work on a few areas. Need to make sure the run rate doesn’t go down after powerplay. It’s the way the game has evolved.  The guys put up their hands and never gave up (in the run chase). It was good to see there was a bit of fight in us. 30-40 runs from the bowling perspective was a bit too much,” he said.
