LSG captain KL Rahul has admitted that the Lucknow vs Chennai game at the Ekana Stadium felt like an away game due to the fandom of MS Dhoni. LSG came into the CSK game on the back of two losses expecting the comfort of home at Ekana. However, the crowd turned in yellow at the stadium in support of MS Dhoni and CSK on Saturday, 19 April.
LSG captain KL Rahul spoke about the same in a video with the Indian Premier League website and acknowledged MS Dhoni’s fandom in India cricket. The legendary former captain was in magnificent touch, hitting 28* off just 9 balls in a late cameo. Dhoni’s innings combined with Ravindra Jadeja’s half-century took CSK to a fighting total, but was not enough for them to win the match.
“It’s one of those games when even though it is a home game it feels like an away game because of the crowd that CSK and one man MS Dhoni pulls in. Yes, it was great to put ourselves under a little bit of pressure, we were already under pressure coming into this game, it feels good to get those two points. It was a satisfying win,” KL Rahul said about the match in a video with Marcus Stoinis.
KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock were instrumental in setting up the chase against CSK as they put together 134-run partnership. Rahul won the player of the match award for his measured knock of 82 off 53 balls which put LSG in a great position to win the game. Nicholas Pooran came out to bat and finished the remaining job with his 23* off 12 balls.
“The win reminded me to keep sticking to our plans and even though we lose a couple of games, we always have a chance of coming back,” concluded KL Rahul.
With the win, LSG remained at the 5th position in the points table with 4 wins and 3 losses from 7 games.
