Sri Lanka’s full time consultant Sanath Jayasuriya will be travelling to USA and West Indies along with the Wanindu Hasaranga led World Cup Squad, Cricket Age reliably learns.
Left-arm spinning allrounder Dunith Wellalage has made Sri Lanka’s T20 World Cup Squad, despite never having played a T20 International. Old guns Angelo Mathews, Dhananjaya de Silva and Dasun Shanaka also found places In the squad.
Sri Lanka are in group D along with South Africa, Bangladesh, Nepal and Netherlands. Their first encounter is against South Africa on June 3 in New York.
In earlier few ICC tournaments, then full time consultant Mahela Jayawardene used to travel with the team. However, after Jayasuriya, who is also Country’s tourism brand ambassador, arrival, Mahela has become a part time consultant!
The team is scheduled to depart on May 14.
