India’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 has caused quite a storm among many fans across social media. Some big names missed out while some managed to get the ticket to the Americas. To answer the question on his thoughts on the current squad, the BCCI secretary had a very simple answer.

In an interview with the Times of India, Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary had a long interaction regarding a variety of topics and one of those included the criteria for selection particularly for the T20 World Cup squad.

Rohit Sharma will lead the 15-man team for his first T20 World Cup and many including the BCCI secretary will be expecting the Men in Blue to maintain the same dominating brand of cricket as they did in the recently concluded 50-over World Cup in 2023 despite falling short at the last hurdle.

“It has a good balance between form and experience. The selectors cannot choose on the basis of IPL performance alone, as overseas experience is also necessary,” he said.

There were some big misses in the 15-man squad including the likes of Rinku Singh, and Shubman Gill among many others which caused quite the storm. But the current side also has a lot of names that they wanted to see in the list like that of Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, Virat Kohli and more.
