Five top Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) officials will be travelling to United States for the upcoming T20 World Cup, Cricket Age reliably learns.
The tournament is set to kick off on June 1 in the West Indies and the USA.
Cricket Age understands that Country’s Sports Minister Harin Fernando has approved SLC President Shammi Silva, Vice President domestic cricket Ravin Wickramaratne, secretary Crysantha Kapuwatha and treasurer Sujeewa Godaliyada travelling for the World Cup in the different stages. In addition, Vice President International Cricket Jayantha Dharmadasa will also travel for the ICC showpiece.
Notably, no SLC Executive Committee (ExCo) member will be travelling for the tournament.
Sri Lanka are placed in group D at the T20 World Cup along with Bangladesh, Nepal, Netherlands and South Africa. They play their first game of the tournament against South Africa on June 3 in New York, before travelling to Dallas to play Bangladesh on June 8. Their last two group games are against Nepal and Netherlands, in Florida on June 12 and St Lucia on June 17.
