Former legendary opener and present Consultant Coach (full time) of national team Sanath Jayasuriya today joined the T20 World Cup squad in US, Cricket Age reliably learns.
The tournament is set to kick off on June 1 in the West Indies and the USA.
Cricket Age understands that Jayasuriya was accompanied by Maheesh Theekshana, Nuwan Thusara, Janith Liyanage (travelling reserve) and Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) throwdown specialist D Vimukthi.
Sri Lanka are placed in group D at the T20 World Cup along with Bangladesh, Nepal, Netherlands and South Africa. They play their first game of the tournament against South Africa on June 3 in New York, before travelling to Dallas to play Bangladesh on June 8. Their last two group games are against Nepal and Netherlands, in Florida on June 12 and St Lucia on June 17.
