KKR captain Shreyas Iyer took pride in the team’s triumphant run in IPL 2024, saying they felt ‘invincible’ throughout the season. Iyer was lost for words after he lifted the IPL trophy after KKR won the crown for the third time in the history of the tournament. The India batter was thrilled as he acknowledged the collective effort from the players and the members of the support staff.

KKR ended their dominant run in the IPL 2024 season with an 8-wicket win over the SunRisers in a one-sided final at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. KKR bowled SRH out for 113 in just 18.3 overs after which they gunned down the target in just 9.3 overs in the shortest-ever IPL final that lasted just 29 overs in total.

“We played like invincibles throughout the season. There’s so much to cherish right now.” Shreyas Iyer said, taking pride in KKR’s campaign.

The collective effort from KKR players in the big final on Sunday was reflective of how their season went. KKR hunted in a pack with their bowlers and batters stepping up in unison.

Mitchell Starc and Andre Russel shared five wickets between them while young guns Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Arora picked 3 wickets between them. Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy chipped in with a wicket each as SunRisers had no breathing space on the big day. On the other hand, Venkatesh Iyer smashed a 24-ball fifty as KKR made light work of the target.

Shreyas Iyer heaped praise on Mitchell Starc for stepping up on the big stage and Andre Russell for his show with the ball in the final.

“It was comprehensive. This is what we demanded from the players and they stood up. It’s difficult to express the feelings

“It was a high-pressure game and Mitchell Starc had been so good off-field. Phenomenal work ethic, something to learn for youngsters. Russell has got a magic wand and he is looking towards me to bowl. In the majority of the games, he gave us breakthroughs. Venkatesh Iyer made things easy for us.

“As I said earlier, everyone stepped up. There was no one individual who took us here; it was a cumulative effort. It was a flawless season for us,” he added.
