Rinku Singh Calls Himself ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ After Bowling Death Overs

Written by Shreyas Vyas

Rinku Singh demonstrated his bowling talent to help India defeat Sri Lanka in the third T20I in Pallekele on Tuesday. Captain Suryakumar Yadav asked Rinku to roll his arms when the hosts needed 9 runs in the last two overs. He conceded only three runs and picked up two important wickets to keep the match alive. It was the first over for Rinku in international cricket. At that moment, Mohammed Siraj had one over left in his quota. Surya, however, showed his faith in Rinku, considering the sluggish nature of the surface.

In his second delivery, the right-arm off-spinner dismissed Kushal Perera. The Sri Lankan batter attempted a big shot but ended up being caught by Rinku inside the 30-yard circle. In the last ball of that over, the part-time bowler trapped Ramesh Mendis for a catch with a similar kind of delivery.

Rinku Singh was enthralled to have the opportunity to bowl in the death overs. After the match was over, he shared some pictures from the third T20I match on Instagram and wrote, “Khatron ke Khiladi ft. bowling in the death.”

Rinku Singh also tagged Suryakumar Yadav in his post. Despite being a specialised batter, the Indian captain took up the responsibility of delivering the final over when Sri Lanka needed only six runs. He also excelled in the task and managed to restrict the opponents to 137 runs while taking two wickets.

As both teams registered the same score, the Super Over came into play. Sri Lanka batted first and scored only 2 runs, with Washington Sundar fetching a double in the first three deliveries. Suryakumar Yadav opened the innings for India and ensured the win with a boundary in the very first ball. The victory helped the Men in Blue complete a 3-0 whitewash in the T20I series.
