3-1 To Australia! Ricky Ponting Makes Prediction About Border-Gavaskar Trophy

The Indian men’s cricket team will travel to Australia this year for a five-match Test series. The series opener is scheduled to take place in Perth, and the next four matches will be played in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney, respectively. India won the last two Test series played against Australia in Australia, and this time under Rohit Sharma’s leadership, the Indian team would like to complete the hat-trick.

While there are still more than three months to go before the start of the first Test at Perth Stadium, former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting has made a big prediction about the series result. According to the leading run scorer for Australia in Tests and ODIs, unlike the last two occasions, this time the Baggy Greens will manage to get the better of India and win the series.

Speaking on the latest episode of the ICC Review, Ponting said that he thinks the hosts might have the edge this time around and has backed them to win the series by a margin of 3-1.

“It’s going to be a competitive series, and as I said, I think Australia’s got a bit of a point to prove against India in Australia on the back of what’s happened in the last two series here (Australia).”

“We are back to five Tests as well, which is the other really important thing about this series. It’s only been four Tests the last couple of times. Five Tests—I think everyone’s really excited by that, and I don’t know if there’d be too many drawn games.”

“I’m obviously going to tip Australia to win, and I’m never going to tip against Australia. There will be a draw somewhere, and there will be some bad weather somewhere, so I’m going to say 3-1 to Australia,” he added.
